BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sukanta Majumdar on Friday carried out a “Griha Sampark” (door-to-door outreach) campaign in Kolkata’s Bhawanipur Assembly constituency, the seat currently represented by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Moving through neighbourhoods in South Kolkata, Majumdar interacted with residents and asserted that the BJP is preparing for a strong electoral battle in the constituency ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
During the outreach, Majumdar claimed that if Mamata Banerjee contests again from Bhawanipur, she would face defeat. He expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in West Bengal with a full majority. The campaign is being viewed as part of the party’s strategy to intensify grassroots engagement in key constituencies.
Bhawanipur gained political prominence after the 2021 Assembly elections, when Mamata Banerjee, defeated from Nandigram, returned to the Assembly by winning the by-election from the seat. During Friday’s programme, Majumdar also encouraged party workers by drawing the lotus symbol on a wall near the party office in Chakraberia, calling for change in the state and asserting that the public is ready for transformation.
